Presentation Speaker, Basic Topic:

SMT President

Basic Technical Topic:

Moving Averages

Presentation Speaker, Advanced Topic:

Vas Madhava,
Independent Trader

Advanced Technical Topic:

Identifying High Probability Pullbacks in Up Trending Stocks

During the Basic TA presentation, Dennis will cover what moving averages are, how they are used, and some of the different types. A good primer for what you can expect to get out of these tools and how to  use them.

For the Advanced TA topic, Vas Madhava will show a simple technique to identify high probability low risk entries in trending stocks.  No indicators are used, only trend lines, trend channel lines and moving averages.

These pullbacks can then be used for both aggressive accounts to compound gains on multiple trades or for long term accounts to build positions over time.  He will then highlight the difference between a shallow pullback and a deep pullback. The software he will use is TC2000 for both charting and scanning.

Time permitting, he will show how he has automated this process so that all the stocks setting up on any particular day are recorded.  He will then take a random day from the audience and see how the setups on that day performed.

Time permitting, he will also show how the same setup can be used to identify reversals as well at very distinct points on the chart where high returns are possible.

Starting in January 2020, SMT meetings went 100% online, using for both our monthly meetings (the first Thursday of each month), and supplemental meetings, as determined by our membership.  The first online meeting was a great success with almost two dozen participants from seven states and the District of Columbia (DC).  We encourage watch parties, but in the future presenters will have to be at their own computer, not presenting from a watch party.

The video of the February 2020 meeting has been posted on the web site for SMT members.
